Pack Your Supplies

It goes without saying that having a boat makes it a lot easier to bring all your necessary supplies along. You don’t have to lug your gear around or worry about bugs or mud causing any problems. It’s also easier to set things down on a boat floor than on an uneven patch of grass. You should take advantage of this added storage and bring everything you need like a tackle box, bait, needle nose pliers, a net, sunscreen, drinking water, bug spray, and a first aid kit.

Dress Accordingly

You’ll need to wear appropriate fishing gear on the boat. You can start with polarized sunglasses that help block UV rays and reduce the sun’s harsh glare on the water. Check the weather before heading out so you can wear the right amount of layers. If there’s even a slight chance of rain, you should be on the safe side and pack waterproof gear.

Speaking of gear, you’ll also need proper boat gear. A lifejacket is an excellent safety feature that you should always wear in case of an emergency. Something as simple as waves from passing boats can throw your balance off. If you were to fall overboard or be knocked unconscious, you’ll be thankful you had a lifejacket on. For example, certain types of fish are found in very deep waters while others stick close to the shore. Choose your location based on the fish you’re wanting to catch.
