Preparing Your Boat For Trade-In
Got a boat that you want to trade into your local used boat dealer? Great! There are a few things you’ll want to make sure you do before you bring it in. Here are the steps to follow when preparing to trade in your boat.
Make Your Craft Presentable
No one’s going to want to purchase a used boat that is in poor condition. Take some time to make your boat look as great as possible before you trade it in. Appearance is important, so make sure that you’ve cleaned the entire vessel inside and out, removed all personal items, touched up paint, repaired any gelcoat cracks, replaced worn carpeting or upholstery, waxed the hull and sanitized the controls.
Repair Problems
If there are any glaring repairs that you should make to your boat that won’t cost too much money, you should do them now. It doesn’t make sense to spend $500 on repairs that will only add $100 of value to your boat’s sale price. But you do want to make sure that all systems are functional and that any worn parts have been replaced. Replenish the fuel and change the oil as well.
